Our Vision: The rcoba aimS to support old boys to:

Reconnect

The long transition from a postal mail system of communication to a high speed, multi-platform digital world has presented significant challenges to the Association in recent years. Re-connecting with the vast majority of our alumni is our primary goal in order to build and maintain a vibrant community of alumni and to provide productive support to the college. The Association undertakes the following tasks to support our alumni to reconnect: maintain a web-site; utilise social media forums: maintain a computerised database of all Old Boys; publish The Chariot newsletter/blog; develop merchandise opportunities.

Project Reconnect aims to have all our old boys registered with the Association so we can maintain a vibrant alumni community.

Contribute

The most valuable purpose of the Association is to support the realisation of the BEST values by making financial contributions towards a diverse range of school activities. Members can make donations to our BEST fund or to the James Hunter Outward Bound Scholarship fund. A Bequest scheme is presently being developed.

The James Hunter Outward Bound Scholarship was established in the memory of 1980 Head Prefect, James Hunter, to support students to attend Outward Bound.

Offer

The Association supports Old Boys to offer their skills, expertise and knowledge to enhance the school’s learning, sporting and cultural programmes. The Association connects Old Boys to academic leaders, sports and cultural coordinators to explore opportunities to share their knowledge, skills and expertise with students as coaches, mentors/advisors and as guest speakers in classrooms, workshops and assemblies.

Build

The Association seeks to build and maintain social and business networks for the benefit of the school and Old Boys. The Rongotai community does not begin and end at the school gates. Rather, we want to see our community continue to connect and thrive throughout the Wellington region and beyond, supporting our alumni in their business and social endeavours.

Attend

The Association organises and hosts reunions and other social functions to reconnect Old Boys and to nurture the core aims of the Association. We also provide assistance to member groups to host events or to co-host events as RCOBA partners.
