What is the RCOBA BEST Fund?
The RCOBA BEST Fund is a dedicated fund of the Rongotai College Old Boys’ Association that supports initiatives enriching the life of Rongotai College. Grounded in the College’s core values — Being Respectful, Encouraging Brotherhood, Striving for Excellence, and Taking Pride — the Fund is a practical expression of our commitment to give back and support the next generation of Rongotai men.
Open to current students and staff, the Fund provides grants (usually up to $1,000) for projects and opportunities that uphold these BEST values and benefit the school community.
Applications are reviewed twice a year by a Fund Panel.

How to Apply
Below are the steps to apply for funding from the RCOBA BEST Fund:
1) Check your idea aligns with the Fund's purpose. Make sure your project reflects the BEST values – Being Respectful, Encouraging Brotherhood, Striving for Excellence, and Taking Pride – and meets the eligibility criteria. Also review the list of exclusions to confirm your project is suitable.
2) If you believe your idea fits with our funding focus, submit a brief written statement of your idea to help determine whether you are eligible. This should be at least a paragraph and no more than one page. Please email the written summary of your idea to president@rcob.org.nz .
3) If we believe your idea fits with our funding focus, we will invite you to submit a formal application including a budget. We will provide a proposal template which you can use or adapt depending on your project.
4) Complete an application, which includes a short project summary, intended outcomes, estimated costs, and any other funding you’ve sought. Be clear and concise – you don’t need to write more than a few pages. Email your completed application form to info@rcob.org.nz and cc in president@rcob.org.nz and secretariat@rcob.org.nz .
5) Your application will be reviewed by the RCOBA BEST Fund Panel which meets twice a year to review applications. Applications must be received at least two weeks prior to each meeting to be considered, unless otherwise stipulated.
Please note that we receive more requests for funding than we can grant. Your proposal may not be accepted for many reasons and it is not necessarily a reflection of the quality or the effectiveness of what you do.
